News from the centre

Just to inform our regular supporters, there will not be a Raku firing in June this year due to other commitments with the pottery team. If we should decide to hold one at a later date please be assured that community notices will go out as well as postings on our web site and here.

The good news for EBACC is that a lot of work is being done behind the scenes to clean up the pottery centre, renewing shelving and generally making the area more user friendly.

You can keep update to date with us here on the website and on our Facebook page. Like us to keep up to date with classes and workshops and take a look at the great work being created in all our classes.

Gosford Poppy Project

Over 30,000 handmade poppies were planted for the Gosford Poppy Project in Gosford. EBACC were very proud to be involved and also relieved to see the poppies all still standing after the wild weather experienced on the Central Coast prior to Anzac Day.

This community project gave our students and tutors the opportunity to be involved in the creation of a magnificent tribute to the 100th anniversary of ANZAC Day. Congratulations to all our EBACC folk who were involved and to all the poppy makers. The tribute was moving and spectacular.

En Plein Air with our tutor Judith Hoste

Judith Hoste recently tutored an ‘En Plein Air’ workshop on Norfolk Island with 10 painters participating.  The group painted for 5 half days through the week they were there, some days were mornings and others afternoons.  Each day a new location was found to make it an interesting experience for everyone, plus it gave us the opportunity to see how beautiful the scenery is on Norfolk Island.  At the end of the 5 days the group had an exhibition of their paintings and it was very rewarding for them to see just how good the works turned out. Judith will be returning again in 2017, as she enjoyed it so much, thanks to the Norfolk Island Travel Centre.

Coloured Pencil Drawing workshop in June

27 and 28 June, 9 am to 3.30 pm. $90 for 1 day or $170 for both. Contact the Centre to book or call 4341 8344.

Join Belinda Lindhardt for a two day coloured pencil workshop and explore realistic coloured pencil drawing techniques.

Day 1 (Beginners) is walking you through the fundamentals for those who are new to working with pencils.

It covers:

  • a general overview of coloured pencil art, including examples of Australian & International Pencil Artists, books etc.
  • general materials needed for coloured pencil art differences in brands which ones to use, papers, blending tools etc.
  • series of demonstrations and exercises on:
  • Strokes, Pressure, Layering, Values,  Blending techniques, Colour Mixing,

Day 2 (Intermediate)

We will be putting into practice, taking an artwork from start to (hopefully) finish, this day is designed so that by the end you will have the confidence to be able to follow through this process on your own in future coloured pencil artworks. So we cover things like, transferring your work to a paper, how to chose your colours &   layering.

It is for those who know the basics* and would like like to learn techniques which take it to the next step like speeding up working with pencils, help on how to create a whole artwork start to finish, learning to work  with drafting film, coloured paper, using a watercolour background underneath your pencils to speed the process up.

You may come both days or just one.  *Note, it is recommended you only attend my intermediate class if you have attended my beginners class at an earlier time.

Gosford Poppy Project

As a local organisation, we like to get involved in projects on the Central Coast that support our community and give us the opportunity to use our arty and crafty skills. So we were excited to learn about Gosford City Council’s Poppy Project for Anzac Day 2015. You can read more about the project here.

Our poppies have been made by our sewing and pottery students and are just beautiful. They were created as a symbol of community unity and our gratitude to all those that made sacrifices during WW1.

Everyone at EBACC is very proud to be involved in this project which will culminate in the installation of a field of handmade poppies at Rotary Park, Gosford on 16 April.
